I made cake, but she was remarkably unsure what else she wanted from what is generally a pretty big deal birthday. She wouldn't even decide on what kind of cake, or if she preferred cake or pie - absolutely ZERO decision making.
So I made marble cake, with a layer of chocolate inside, and white frosting. We had candles and singing and family circus, and that was it. I promised to take her to a Cirque show, possibly in NYC, and ... it feels like I've failed her somehow. She seems chipper, so I am not exactly sure what else I could/should be doing. But still. 16.
