rode this morning, not quite as cool as I thought, but nice anyhow, and a good ride.

Bob was quoting Jascha Heifetz about practicing: "if I don't practice for one day, I know it, if I don't practice for two days, my friends know it, if I don't practice for three days? Everyone knows it!"

So. Practice. Fabric practice, horse practice, and, still and forever, parenting practice. Al practice. I like hte zen idea that something becomes your practice, and they talk about a walking practice, among other things. I used to joke about a stall cleaning practice. less so now, I guess I'm just as pleased to have more of a riding practice instead? If that is even what it is....

I've got something weird going on in my lower back. It has been strongly associated with change and stress for a very long time. I remember it for my grandmother's death (the last of that generation), and around when my dearest friend got married, and again after Alice was born and I was working on coming to grips with parenting two. At a guess, this is related to slacking off work at the gym on top of sending Aerin off to college. Even if she isn't going very far, or going to be particularly out of touch.

Bob said he didn't feel old until he sent Abby to college. He's only a year older than me, so it seems funny that he felt old six years ago, and I'm just getting around to it now. But I totally understand whereof he speaks.
