different day, different conversation
Dec. 13th, 2011 09:12 pmAerin is nattering about oranges and scaly elbows and allergies to her Young Man who has to date been blissfully unaware of allergic issues, when the issue of stomach aches comes up
Aerin's Young Man, in a gallant effort at sympathy: I did got a stomach ache from a clementine once
Aerin: ?
AYM: it turned out I'd forgotten to peel it
Aerin: you can forget to peel it HOW exactly???
AYM: I think I was really, really hungry
Aerin's Mother is in the other room having indiscreet hysterics
In other news, Bob and I shifted Kaboose up to XF, three towns over this afternoon. It was after a really good lesson; we'd worked hard, and were tired but successful. We got her loaded up (she doesn't like self-loading with the new trailer, apparently the step up requires someone else go first to demonstrate) and up there. I was glad she was tired, because she behaved like a lamb.
I am apparently really worried that she'll just explode at some point and take out fences or stark kicking the barn down. I've seen her at one other barn - the turn-out was awful, there were no trails or places to explore outside a ring and she was moderately miserable, but not destructive. However she flunked out of the lesson program at Mt Holyoke for ditching students, and got sent home in disgrace from her last placement because she took a disliking to ... something, and started taking her stall apart.
I am really really hoping that steady work from me, time for exploring (which I think she likes) and a lot of turn-out will make a difference to her this time.
