Paaaarent's night
Sep. 17th, 2015 09:56 pmMy next to last parents' night/open house. And two of Alice's teachers are new. So I had to go.
I was less homicidal facing the literachure teacher than I expected - somehow he deeply aggravated me when Aerin when through and I was dreading hearing form him again. but he was fine, for all that if I had to read what they're reading I would be stabbing myself with my carbon fiber knitting needles. Especially if I had to write essays about them afterwards. The books, not the knitting needles. I probably could write an essay about my carbon fiber knitting needles. I will take that as a challenge when the writing gets slow.
Because she's taking a class at Smith, she has second period free and she spends it in the library, so we did too.
Her history is US in the modern world, which seems like it might get closer to the year 2K than previously when they got hung up on post-WWII and McCaarthy. the teacher is young and cheerful and likes the kids -
And then AP Physics, which is gong to be intense, and hard, and worthwhile I think. The teacher is new, and is basically an infant, but she loves her stuff, she clearly loves the kids and is basically jet-propelled. Her message is "everyone will do WELL in this class and EVERYONE will pass the AP test with at least a 3, and no one gets left behind" which was charming.
And I am so done. I was at the school for three differnet things, over the course of the day, and I'm over everything.
