three circles and a pair of socks
Mar. 11th, 2012 08:36 pmthree circles and some socks. Friday was the musical and we got home too late. Saturday we went to MIT so Alice (remember Alice?) could take classes in mythology soldering, Maxwell's equations and explosions in chemistry.
In the no good deed goes unpunished department, I called my mother to see how she was doing and she begged me to "pop up for a visit" so after an hour on the road north, I hugged her, talked for an hour, and drove back to Boston. The circle for Saturday is marker rather than stitch because while MIT has truly spectacular internet connectivity they are lacking in readily available sewing machines for guests. So it looks different, but has the same palette.
And then I drove us home. Not that Jeanne couldn't have driven us, but she looked pale and her broken ankle looked like it hurt and after visiting my mother I always have control issues, and driving seems like a good way to handle that.
The socks are for our color-averse circus teacher. Al said it would be OK with him if I made Henry socks, and that Henry would probably not take it the wrong way, so there they are, and they are quite lovely if a tad subdued.
The last circle is pretty much the end of the snow. It was melting Friday, down to just patches under the trees in the pine forests. Friday night it snowed an inch - it only stuck on the grass and trees - and it looked lovely. But today it was melting everywhere, and I have to rethink my plan for March. I can work from photos i took when the snow was new, or I can look for other black and white and gray things. Like the gray horse.
Something will become clear.
