clouds have obscured the sunset last night, the lunar eclipse last night (Alice and I woke up to admire it and found clouds) and sunrise this morning - I am sorry to have missed all those, but still the solstice has happened, and still the days will start to lengthen, obscured by clouds or not...

In other news, cake for Al's birthday last night was WONDERFUL (the whipped cream cake from All Cakes Considered, with a filling of raspberries mashed into whipped mascarpone, and raspberry frosting)

still no snow - we are too far from the coast, I guess...
