ways Alice's school thing will play out, with probabilities:
"sacre bleu! We did that wrong! let us sign her up now for Honors Math" -- probability -100% (absolutely is NOT going to happen)
they admit her on probation, subject to the successful work in the first week or so -- probability 50%
she is added to a wait list, and squeaks in in September -- probability 50%
She shows up in September having worked with her dad over the summer, and is clearly out of place in regular math -- probability 100% (Al is already working on this)
(revenge fantasies from the child herself) she shows up in September ready to start 8th grade honors Algebra (having skipped a full year of honors math) -- probability 25%
odds that they will move her when this happens - 25%
odds that we will put up a HUGE stink - 100%
odds that they will offer enrichment activities while leaving her where she is - 100%
odds that she will actually get enrichment activities from the school - 0%
odds that she will get enrichment activities from us - 100% and then some
why exactly are we trying to work with the school at all? why are we not simply planning on homeschooling? I dunno. We are trying to avoid private school because we did that once, and the financial bite is fucking huge.
