Emptied a book case for Red Kate, brought in the new one off the porch a full year after purchase, Alice helped me put it together. We have a rampart of books to sort into Keep Shelved, Keep Stored, and New Home.
Rode the red mare for a short, low key bareback ride. At least I meant to be low key, but I was doing So Well (!Yay!) sitting the trot that we did a lot more than I intended. She has relaxed about the indoor and the new place and the various scary horse eating things around the place, but she still has these grumpy moments, generally at the beginning, with a tight back, ears back and tail tucked in. It takes a lot of walking in circles and serpentines (8 m serpentines down the long wall - thinking hard about every change of bend - is very effective) to get a more relaxed frame. We even cantered, which I was not originally intending at all, but again, I felt solid enough and she felt biddable enough that it was worth a try.
The girls came with me to take the bookcase to Red Kate and we fed her supper and ran home.
