Feb. 3rd, 2011 06:37 pmI scraped snow off the only edge of the barn we could reach - Janice was fretting over the weight of it and hearing from a friend that a barn on the other side of the valley had collapsed (all the horses fine). It was one of those open span, stretched fabric over a frame buildings, that enclosed both a ring and the barn. The one I've stood in seemed both airy and pretty durable, with steep enough sides that snow couldn't build up, but I imagine a stiff breeze could be a disaster.
Morton, the barn company, could probably speak to the strength of the building. I spoke with another barn owner who had talked to the builders and they had been reassuring about the carrying capacity of the roof.
The snow is still making me happy.
It is probably the antidepressants too, but the overall effect is nice.
