Apr. 24th, 2014 06:17 pmstuff changes fast, once it starts....
Kaboose is back up the hill at her house, bossing around her herd. I am riding the kind gray horse steadily 3 to 4 days a week, and maybe fitting the red girl in once or twice a week. After J mentioned I should maybe find a different ride, E said the same thing, and S at a lesson Monday equivocated briefly, said we'd come a long way, but also that riding Nuada steadily would improve me faster than anything else. And then M at the barn, and Al AND my mother all suggested the same damn thing, so Tuesday Kaboose went home (Because Bob says "sure, tomorrow would work fine") and Tuesday I rode Nuada again and even led his person around on his back because she's not allowed to have the reins herself for several more weeks, but as you know and I know, horses are therapeutic, especially if they are kind and the day is lovely and there is no wind and no excuse to be goofy.
of course everyone wants me to clarify what I want - what do I want from a horse, from a ride... I don't know (in the whiniest of tones). Finally Al stares at me and says "don't over think it. now. what. do. you. want." and so I say I WANT TO RIDE BEAUTIFULLY and that feels fairly true. so. I'd also kind of like to level up my dressage, which needs a horse who can, if not a horse who knows. which... is kind of not exactly kaboose, even though we can do some things, and J&E are harder on her than S, who kind of likes her but can maybe see her limitations more clearly.
now I get a father scrimmage instead - my brother persuaded me to start thinking about renovating the garage to make room for dad's machine shop, so I'm talking to builders about the costs around that. Which I was hoping would be 5k and are shaking out to 10 - 30k. yikes. the other option is to talk to people associated with schools around here, and get him connected with some group that wants an emeritus engineer to work on random projects, and has a reasonable shop setup already
