Dec. 11th, 2011 04:42 pmIt is nearly impossible not to take sales of one's work as a referendum on one's worth.
In truth, it is not personal. Instead it has everything to do with people's reaction to it plus their financial stability and how much they love the person they want to get the chicken or landscape for and how well they think it will fit into that other person's life and how much confidence they have in their own taste and how well their assessment of the other's taste matches with theirs and how many other gifts they have to buy... oh, and the worth of the work.
Nothing at all to do with one's own worth. Nothing.
