dancing_crowAlice just snuggled up on me, looking a little wistful and a little headachey and I picked up Your Inner Fish and started reading the first chapter. With commentary. Shubin is clearly writing for a non-scientific peoples, so I have rather a lot of commentary when he gets too hand-wavey, but on the whole this is a happy book. Partway through the chapter Aerin looks up and says "I got Harry Potter" Alice says "I did too. And some of The Hobbit"
Alice recognized two names in the first chapter: Farish Jenkins and Steve Gatesy. She's apparently watched the NOVA episode on the four winged dinosaur often enough that the participants feel like friends to her. Which is pretty cool.
