I want to write this down but not as publically as the "formal" blog, although now that i ahve a landing page there is a smaller issue of people finding family circus things and wondering where the art is.
I realized the water and the sky go across all three panels of Jenny's marsh, so i stitched the sections together and started in. I found on the last couple pieces that if I want the open areas to stay flat, they need to get enogh stitching that they balance the heavily stitched areas. When I have trees in the foreground, it is fine because all those branches make a huge difference. but for the marsh, I ahve noting in the foreground except a couple boulders, so I needed to get a base layer down for each of the sky and river, and then put in details and stitching and another sheer layer, and more stitching and another sheer layer. So there are clouds and the shadows from banks and rocks, and a large open senction in te center where all the marsh and layers of distance are going.
I find I am deeply curious how the landscape is going to fit onto this. This is four hours of stitching and ironing. i'd sew, and then stop and cool off in the AC downstairs, and then go do it again.
Also i am trying to do two things daily: write 750 words and exercise at the Y. the basic Y experience is 30 minutes on the rowing machine, and I can fill it out with other stuff if i get enthused. I am doign both until Friday, and then Saturday we go see Straandbeests and sleep in LLBeantown, and Sunday we get the ferry for Monhegan, and I really really hope insane Dr HArt is NOT there this year because THAT was embarassing last year.
