March circles, 2012
Mar. 31st, 2012 10:16 pmwhat I did in March, by me, lee.
I'm embarrassed that I missed so many days. Pi day, a sculpture day, and a day of misery is only three, but it feels bad.
Nothing to do really but carry on, she says, rallying magnificently.
March is (almost) completely given away. I'm delighted. (I think I have the first, which was reealy deeply mysterious, and the markered one from MIT, and the unfinished sycamore branches), and I am startled how lighthearted I feel about sending them out into the world. People are interested in them, and curious about my process, and deeply curious about my reasoning (If I do this right, I'll have over 300 of them - I'd rather give them away to people who will be enchanted by each single one)
the second casting class today was again great, but exhausting. I have a two part mold made from one of my fabric heads, I'm very curious to see how it'll turn out. I have some shell shaped lumps of wax that failed to unmold gracefully and munged up the shell mold, but since the entire thing was practice I don't care.
I have a couple weird rubber molds of shells and heads that need to finish curing. I think the two part epoxy/silicone I've used before is easier but all those options are wicked expensive.
I'm still not sure what I'm doing for April, and I kind of have to decide by Monday. April 1st can be kind of anything. I wish we celebrated April Fools day more here- not in terms of stupid "your shoes untied" pranks but more in strange, upside down, backwards foods that look like other foods.
