vile and horrible driving up to the barn, three cars had slid off the highway in various places, so I went 40-45 all the way up, and significantly slower on the smaller roads.

I rode Nuada first, in peace and quiet, and he was terrific. He has training, and kindness, and is generally just such fun to ride.

Kaboose was fidgety but present, but we were in the indoor along with someone schooling flying changes (and getting bucks) and someone having a lesson, so mostly we walked, and leg yielded, and trotted out of people's way. We neither of us do well like that. Once the others cleared out we could do some canter departs, which are getting much cleaner, until someone else came in to lunge a horse I knew was going to be trouble. So we went out. Into the snow. The footing is treacherous, with snow over ice, but was better in the field and probably on the trails. I remember why I try to get there earlier rather than later; I like having the ring alone or with one other person. Which feels grumpy, but true.

The bigger roads were clear by the time I came home, so it wasn't quite as nerve wracking.

I am done with foil. I dislike it, and it is a pain, and I can't make the details happen and I think it is kind of ugly. Three weeks in, I declare that experiment done, and I'll make the last of my gold stars some other way...
