mornings with Alice range from the affectionate to the surreal.

This morning we were deciding what might make the diverse group of kids in her forum (an antibullying measure; small groups meet with a teacher three times a week - the groups are drawn from homerooms, so you are likely to have similar last names and NOTHING else in common) more unified. Music, sports teams, sports played, books read were all nixed as possibilities. We thought about something like the teambuilding exercises on the low ropes courses at Family Camp. I said, in passing, that what really brought people together was shared peril, especially shared and overcome. Alice says "raptors" and we spend the rest of our time deciding how many raptors we'd need to really create a strong sense of team. One smallish one per forum group (8 of Deinonychous) then you could increase the peril by increasing the size of the raptors and getting the groups to work together (6 or 8 Utahraptors) and finish off the school year with takedown of T. Rex.

From Rosemary Kirstein's blog:

”We don’t allow faster than light neutrinos in here” said the bartender.
A neutrino walks into a bar.

with some trees, originally uploaded by Dancing Crow.

The (silk) sky from yesterday, with the first, background trees laid in and stitched.

This is the first of two larger pieces (12x16") I am working on finishing before mid-October, so I will also have time to photograph them, and make repros.

TODAY IS TALK LIKE A LUMBERJACK DAY, WHICH MOSTLY MEANS REALLY LOUD. Also, it means eating pancakes. I am making pancakes for supper. With bacon.

Tomorrow I turn 51, and I am NOT AMUSED AT ALL. Not even for cake will I be amused. Not that I have any choice, I mean, besides being dead, which really isn't a choice for me At All. I want to see how the kids turn out, and there are still too many horses to ride to be done yet.

So. 51. Not even a prime number, but 3 times 17 (what kind of a bizarro number is that anyhow??)
