Yesterday nothing went as planned and it was all nice anyhow.

I was supposed to meet my fabric women at the cafe, so I went early and found a friend I rode with and worked with when I first started back riding in ...'04? '05 maybe. So we had an awesome visit, and I saw pictures of her Connemara/warmblood cross buckskin girls and then my fabric women came and then i realized I was supposed to be at a lesson on the Canadians.

But I was really late. So she'd gone. And Leonor, who I thought would be there, wasn't there. so I rode Penny (pulling at the canter but rounder and steadier at the walk and trot) and Kaboose (who was FINE when the road grader was eveningout the road right next to us, but then freaked. right. out. over the barrels we'd been going past all morning once it has shut down. strange mare) and practiced my tests for this Sunday (T2 and T3, again) and went to the fabric store.

I found some nearly-see-through tulle, and had a nice talk with the fabric-store women, and then spent the afternoon working on the thing I posted yesterday and re-reading the first of Pierce's Protector of the Small series, which is hands down my favorite of hers.

Oh, and tiny adorable burgers from Trader Joe's, on tiny adorable buns, ditto.

Instead of linking them, the fabric pieces are captured between layers of tulle and stitching lines. I really hate tulle; I dislike the way it dulls the fabric, and I hate stitching it. I remember why I tend to use silk organza to cover things I want to see slightly, because I like the texture and sheen of it.
