Aug. 30th, 2011 02:49 pmRode the red mare in a lesson this morning. I hadn't ridden her for two weeks, she hadn't been ridden for one - we did OK. Except for a full on freakout about a bee.
Yup - this horse has has bad experiences with bees, and she Flipped Out and was rearing and spinning and it was Very Scary for both of us. And then it went away and she was fine. A little worried about that end of the ring, but honestly? better than I was.
The cool thing was Leo riding too, so all three girls (Bob on Penny, Leo on little goofy Ruby and me on Kaboose) were working. Suzanne is really great. She explains things clearly, encourages experimentation (today it was all about where your stirrups are, and we practiced falling out of balance with feet forward and backward, and then fixing it) and gives clear instructions. I LOVE her.
My ribs are still sore. I was worrying last night about pleurisy or inflamed chest lining issues, but I think it was just the late-night all-at-onces. It doesn't hurt so much I can't ride, so I do. It does hurt when I'm too excitable so I don't. It also hurts when lying down and getting up, and sneezing. Those I can't avoid so much. It's been three weeks since I fell off, and two since I felt the muscle pull, so I guessI am still in the window of soft tissue repair and I should stop complaining and either suck it up or stop doing anything until I am less hurty.
