dancing_crowIt was appallinly hot today. I felt peculiar going up to the barn, so I just rode bareback (couldn't face the britches, or the boots, or the saddle....) and we just walked. Long rein, contact, bend this way, bend that way, long rein again. Taking up contact he braces against me unless i almost trick him into it, with one rein and a turn and drop his nose into that. I'm gald I rode. I nearly fainted when I got off, until I hosed myself down as well as him.
The car needed new tires, six months before I was hoping for. But at least all the dashboard warning lights have gone out.
The borrowed middle child is home with her parents. I miss her. There are moments, not many but some, and all the more nostalgic for all that, when I think what it might have been like to have had more kids. Two more, to keep it even, and maybe one or both might have been boys. Al would make an awesome dad to boys. Not that he isn't also an awesome dad to girls, but he could model sensitive new age guy stuff. And I am sorry he missed out on that.
