(no subject)
Feb. 8th, 2011 04:10 pmI have handed
txanne on to her next transportation (Al and I were noodling with words that would describe that better, discarding sherpa, schlepper, carrier and hesitating only briefly over conveyance - ultimately we are short of vocabulary to describe the person who drives another for the pleasure of her company), and thence to her next destination. I would cheerfully have gone with them had I not been pressed into child ferrying at an inopportune time of day.
I think she had fun. She certainly said kind things. I showed her all the prettiest parts of my valley, including horses and friends. We drove down Main St. of hysterical Deerfield, and talked about the people the Indians captured and why, and what happened to them later. We inspected the town library and noted details with delight, including the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library which has no multi-media anything. We tapped one of the three lovely bakeries, had breakfast for supper, and kept her supplied with books to read and new yarn. I had a lot of fun seeing my territory through someone else's eyes.
I am still keeping my fingers crossed for the VT school.
