For future reference, the New England Poultry show is not, in fact, a two day deal. It is a one day deal, with an extended load out on Sunday morning. And yet, Alice and I still saw wonderful things. A black duck, buff ducks, a yellow duck with a top knot (Alice yells "Muppet!" and heads turn) various colors of runner ducks with their funny vertical stance, some tiny chickens with veeeeerrry long legs, a short discourse on bantam birds from a passionate breeder, some geese who looked supercilious, a couple different turkeys who all looked nervous, and three bantams that were all over fluff - like babies or something, no finished feathers on them. They were like powder puffs, right down to their toes.
Given that was the roughly 10% of what was there at the height of the show, next year I go on Saturday. And I take a sketchbook. And take longer.
