dancing_crowThrough the magic of shared work, I have accomplished a great deal.
My neighbor and I agreed to swap 4 hours of effort. Saturday morning, we spent staining her back deck, and acquiring and staining the lattice to hide the underneath parts. Saturday afternoon we spent hacking our way through the jungle that my back yard has become, and dragging load after load of brush and weeds and despicable false bittersweet to another neighbor's burn pile. We continued for a small piece of this morning, and I owe her a couple hours in her garden. I also managed to find a happy home for a large number of orange day lilies and some that are more interesting.
In the general translation department, I finally googled one of the women accepted at the Spanish Riding School, and came up with the following things:

if you look down the list you'll find Sojourner rode with Lendon Gray, and won an award for sensitive riding on a thoroughbred in 2004, when she must have been all of 13 years old. Which I think is kinda cool to know.
