Dec. 2nd, 2009 08:31 amman- yesterday saw the first snow flurry, about six flakes, but still... winter really is coming, all signs to the contrary notwithstanding.
My lesson yesterday really kicked my butt. I was working on canter transitions on the mare with incredible spring, and getting Tossed Out of the Saddle in a heroic fashion. I can deal with her trot, but the canter was making my stomach hurt and my back hurt and I couldn't breathe; it was kind of horrible. Eventually I managed to use the transitions to sit down into her more and get my seat into the saddle more, but still..... owie
Bully is hating the cold weather, and hating working in the field he rightly views as his non-working territory. (there are christmas trees for sale and giant hay wagons in the front yard where we normally ride) Cold weather and grumpy pony = tight, slow warmup and not much accomplished during the ride. Plus way more spook than usual.
I found a barn for the next couple months. There is an indoor, so I can ride in the pelting rain without being sopping wet and disgusted. There is a real ring outdoors so we can make use of the brilliant weather that (I am sure) will still happen. Plus!! access to manymany trails, the possibility of community, and fabulous turnout. I can't move him until closer to the end of December, probably after the 23rd, but I am looking forward to it.
this morning I have molasses in my coffee, then some Canadians to ride, then Bully to ride, then pick up Aerin with all the citrus she managed topawn off the unsuspecting sell to benefit the Band, and distribute what of that we can, and then circus tonight.
I am tired all ready.
