dancing_crowHome from sea - it was a lovely time, with wonderful people, but I am not sure I performed well. I wrote a trip report for Clever Manka, it'll likely be up at her site in the coming week.
I came home and promptly got the let-down flu. You know, when you've been working towards a thing for a while, and then it happens and then you sit down and get sick, almost reflexively from relief? It used to happen to me after every show I worked on, and it doesn't for the summer season because there is no down time between shows, but I've been coughing for almost two weeks now finishing this stupid illness.
I made a vine for Tarzan to swing on out of a pool noodle, and he carried it with him. I made a Danger Quicksand sign that caused anyone standing next to it to start sinking (bending their knees) slowly as the audience got louder and louder about sinking. Fortunately, that could be reversed by moving the sign, a stroke of genius as far as I'm concerned.
For the upcoming pirate play, one of the pirates wants to make cooking videos for Youtube. The kitchen set does not move enough ("I make zee DANCE, viz zee waves, and zee food, and zee SHIP") so not only do I make a counter-top and frame, I make it rock like it is on a ship in a storm... That and the sea monster are the biggest issues for this one. The sea monster is for Pirate Day, declared to be July 22 in EAsthampton, if anyone is in the area and interested. It helps if you have young people to bring along, as camouflage.
My own poor boat is still unrowed yet this season. It has been brutally hot, and the things I have to finish have been multitudinous, but still. I should go for a row.
