A friend came over today for some machine quilting practice and reassurance. She didn't have the right foot for her machine, so I sat her down at mine. Mine has some very nice features for free motion work; the nicest is really delicate control over needle speed. I am not sure I actually taught her anything, but I guess something helped because she left cheerful.

I like the background (I always like blue) but the shell is too lumpy and too fuzzy. Although I really like the juxtaposition of felt, stitch and shiny pink silk. Part of the problem may be that the shell is not a real object. I wasn't staring at a particular shell when I made it, and the generic nature of it shows.
