Jan. 16th, 2012 08:29 pmAnother successful cold weather ride. It was 6F when I got up, 7F when I left for the barn and I think roughly that when I got there. Except it felt OK in the sun. Kaboose was up but not crazy, and we had a lot of steady trotting in patterns working on pushing out her nose and getting better control of her hind legs. It tuned out the clock was frozen - it was running, but running really slowly, so I came unstuck in time, and we just kept trotting and trotting and getting stretchier and swingier and more attuned to what I was wanting. Which was really cool, until my fingers froze.
I've been grazing her after riding because there was no snow cover until last Friday. Apparently even when frozen, grass is worth looking for and nibbling. With snow cover she was playing at being a Wild Winter Pony, pawing at the snow looking for the grassicles underneath.
After yesterday's foil fiasco, I tried different fusible (Heat 'n Bond) that is thicker, works at lower temps and is working better with the foil. So. Sixteen.
