FABULOUS ride yesterday with Bob.

The footing was snowy but solid, we stomped about in the ring and both Penny and Kaboose were in good spirits. We jumped the jumps with snow on the bars, which felt hysterically funny. And then we went out and up the trail. And cantered up the hill, although we had to smack the horses with the rein ends to convince them to canter and keep cantering (dropped the stick and it is under the snow in the ring). Kaboose was so astonished she bucked and farted and Galloped which made us both laugh.

Mostly walking though. they have no condition, or wind. There is something so correct about riding these durable, shaggy, cheerful horses through the snow - like they belong there, or were bred for it or something. The trail looked like Narnia, snow on trees over the trail, only one set of footprints that we were following.

for future reference: Notchview does NOT rent skis, although they DO rent snowshoes, the possibility of keeping up with the kids on skis when the self is on snowshoes is NIL, also snowshoes are not so fun and sliding along on skis on groomed trails.

On the other hand, Northfield Mtn DOES rent skis, for the next time both Aerin and I are going skiing together at the same time.
