Jul. 3rd, 2009 08:35 amman, when it doesn't rain, I sweat... or something like that.
doubting the weather, I exercised yesterday morning; intervals on the stair machine, though no weights.
Then the lack of rain prevailed long enough for me to actually. have. a lesson. OMG. I rode my beloved blonde tank Haflinger, and he was a) unridden (cobwebs on the bridle?!) and 2) extremely dubious about the logging operation just out of sight at the far end of the ring and iii) interested that the guys in the pasture next to the ring were getting their yayas out bucking and kicking.... as a direct result of all that, we walked and trotted, and a couple times went bolting down the side of the ring squealing. I was convinced I'd leave him and wind up on my back in the mud, but I prevailed. Woot, anyone? Actually the best part was that I did Not hang on his mouth but stayerd soft and kind in my hands, and turned from my seat, even when all the sqeaking and bolting was happening. Win!
And then because they have brought circus to me, I signed up for a handstand and partner acro class over in Easthampton. Al and aerin came too. It was kind of surreal lnot to hop on Rt. 91 and hammer into Brattleboro, but simply to scoot one town over. It was very surreal when we got there and the whole situation was like deja vu all over again. Aged mill building, third floor, Karate place on the second, same kind of feel to the whole thing, and then the room was SO similar to the Nimble space of old... it was nostalgic, and spooky.
We did warm-ups, and then handstands and head stands, and then basic partner stuff. There was one complete newcomer, who was game and brave and kind, and a couple, plus us three. The woman of the couple had lots of yoga, and pretty strong unside down skillz, but had issues trusting the partner stuff. We had fun. I based everyone and flew too (which I love but is unusal). Aerin played with the school owner for the partner stuff - doing hand-to-hand balancing and standing on his shoulders, and goofing around.
so anyhow, I am tired and sore today, and pleased to sit in the car and drive and talk about my and other people's art for the morning.
