I was so disgusted with my riding I went and stood in my room and threw things around until I could reach my table and work on this. I came thisclose to tossing Al's hideous and excessively large desk chair down the stairs, or at least dismantling it so I had a little more foot room, but once I'd thrown some stuff out and piled some stuff up there was enough room and I didn't want to be punitive. But I do HATE his chair. And his corner desk. They take up a lot of space and don't hold enough.

Anyhow. This has been languishing on the table since spring, because I was paralyzed about sticking the birch trees down. So I just cut some out of silk, and stitched them right the hell down. They look pretty good, considering what a rotten state of mind I am inhabiting.

The whole piece is much bigger, but needs more work. Underbrush and stuff. Also a couple of little evergreens.  I still haven't decided whether or not to indicate the pond with very sheer silk, or leave the dividing line more implied.
