Dec. 29th, 2009 04:49 pmHow cold does it have to be for you to not ride?
The wind is whipping around out there, and the wind chill is something appalling, but Rachel and I still went up to see the Canadians and Bully anyway. She rode Ruby a little, bareback, because she needed the thinky. The big mares came and requested scratching behind the ears, like cats, which was funny, and nice because they were warm, and wind breaks.
After warming up next to the woodstove at Bob and Leonor's and being fed cocoa (they really do love us) we went to check on Bully. He was hard to catch, as usual, but very well behaved in the indoor, even with the door being blown about and wind whistling under the eaves and lots of banging. I cut it short with Rachel sitting and freezing within view, but we did manage a canter - the first in a a month, at least. And! back to back! riding days! But still, cold, and windy, and how stupid was it?
