LAAAAASERS!!!! ooooooooooooo!!!!!

Why does everything always happen at once?? After a peaceful weekend of recuperation, Monday contained: 

0) Packing up the last of the tarot decks on hand
A) a video conference for the artist group - two of 5 of us, but a thing
II) taking Alice to the dentist for a gum thing
iia) feeding Alice lunch
3) returning Alice to school for one last exam and move out
****) Smith College for laser cutter orientation and practice - which was AWESOME
5) I ordered the electric wall plates for the bathroom and kitchen and they will in fact be amazing

I now have ready access to a lasercutter with 12x24" bed and a PC controlling it and I made a bunch of test objects and OMG so useful and fun.

See?

Things I failed to accomplish:

• mailing the tarot decks
• trip to Joanns for super glue and heavier stuffing, because the knitted bear's arms and legs are sticking out in unfortunate ways where they should be softly floppy
• Karate - I needed food, Al needed food before he tutored a kid (for baked goods) in 8th grade math
• any further knitting

What are electric wall plates, and why are they amazing?

Switch plate covers? Outlet covers is another word. The square/rectangular piece that covers the wall and lets the light switch poke out, so you keep your fingers out of the wires.

Instead of white or beige plastic, I found the mother lode of different materials, and three made of purple slate for the bathroom, two flat copper ones for the switches for the outdoor lights, and then all the colors they had of bamboo for the various ones in the kitchen.

Switch plate covers! Those do sound great. I have a ceramic one painted with "FIAT LUX" given to me by a classicist friend. It's currently propped up next to that quilted postcard you sent me.
