I used to be better at blogging, and at keeping the "public" (my mother can find it and read it) separate from my "private" (the things I truly do not want my sainted mother's opinions on) and both of them ticking along. All the extra platforms have me boggled and frustrated. I kind of need FB for attempting to sell things to people who know me from different parts of my life, and yet i despise the format and (lack of) organization, so I post there by posting to IG, and shuttling images over to FB, or reposting something that is absurdly gorgeous or faintly surrreal... And i have a website that wants content and Patrons who have paid for content, and I feel rather as though I am pouring bits of my life out without measuring carefully or well.

Aside from that i got to spend as long as I wanted, almost, at the maker lab yesterday afternoon, working on both lasercutters and figuring out how to get the effects I want from both of them on various materials. I also fell into an Islamic/Arabic tile rabbit hole, because a student had left a design she'd recreated on the Epilog computer, and I borrowed it.

The computer attached to the Epilog was almost entirely in Chinese, it had apparently transformed itself? or a student had? it felt rather more malicious than a temporary student thing, and also I had forgotten a thumb drive, and was alone in the lab. It took about 15 minutes of stomping in circles to remember Google Drive and make proper use of it, but that was a relief once I had, and at least the drafting program I was using was mostly in english. It was an enormous relief to get back to my machinewhere I could read all the parts.

most of what i cut yesterday was codfish and trees. Clearly I need to make a tree that grows fish.
