weather argh argh weather weather argh
(I get a quiver in my bones, just thinking about the weather)
I am getting whiplash from the weather

I am finding it amusing that I ride more steadily in winter than summer if I have access to an indoor. Although I did have a crisis of confidence when the wind was blowing 20 knots and the temps were hovering around 0F and I just bowed out. But the rain, and the slidey ice and the freezing fog (a whole new level of crazy) have not stopped me from visiting the red horse and riding her.

We are both in dreadful shape. I'm soggy from not riding and from being distracted by death and disease. She's been on a crash diet because Penny was borderline metabolic syndrome and they were all far too heavy. So she's down to very nearly ribby, to the point where I stare at her and try to decide if she shouldn't get (still) more hay, and she has no wind and no muscle. We are starting back to work slowly; 1/2 hour rides, mainly walk, some longer pieces of trot work, maybe a short canter or two, and then a lot more walking. She also has her massive winter coat, so it feels like a triumph of delicate balance when she feels solid under saddle, but isn't sweaty, much.

I'm working on a smallish artwork every day, and being inspired by the rain, snow and cold that are producing layers and layers of atmosphere for me to depict.

And I am still obsessed by Vampire Weekend's music. I've found a couple concerts on youtube, and they are making me really happy, for no reason I can grasp.
