greek parthenon horse
May. 8th, 2010 03:54 pmAbout as done as it is going to be.
It took paint on top of stitching to make it look better. Lots and lots of paint. I figured out if I hated the results, I could add moar! paint! until it finally came around right.
This is one of the Elgin marbles. There is a picture of some of the horse heads that were left in Athens, compared to a cast of this head. The ones in Athens are profoundly degraded. Although (apparently) the London pieces have had their own hardships including being cleaned with various acids that ate into the underlying structure and being left outside for parts of the industrial Revolution.
