the equivalent of stand up on it is ride through it
lumpy ride on Image this morning - free and swingy in the field, and short and stopping in the indoor (Janice needed to sit down this morning). After a lot of thrashing around, we (finally) got some nice cantering, and from there some nice trotting, and then I got some exercises in counter-canter to practice over the coming week, and Janice is coming up to Bob and Leonor's to give me a lesson on Kaboose on Tuesday.
I don't know what I expect, exactly. Improvement. Of some sort.
I still miss Bully.
Image is much less aloof, and much more willing to be endearing. He is also hugely itchy, so any good scratching or grooming you give him produces lip-quivering ecstasy on his part, which is gratifying. He has the stopping impulses of Penny, but has much better training. I am allowed to insist on what I want to do, but I have to be both definite and quiet. When I first started riding him I felt like I was mumbling really loudly (like: MRPHMY MURBLE SNAZZLELUMP - NOW!!!) but Janice says it isn't all me, and she wouldn't tell me that just to make me feel better.
