Saturday Alice and I attended our first. evar. Rockclimbing competition. They call them comps, which confuses the hell out of me because I think they are complimentary or comparisons and they are not either one... Anyhow.

Newburyport MetroRock, for the entire afternoon. Alice was not the smallest or cutest one there, which was unexpected, nor had we traveled the farthest (a crowd of short, intense kids came down from Burlington, VT in a bus). I told Alice she had to look, but didn't have to compete. She took one look at the room, and the routes, and decided she'd like to climb. So she did. She attempted 8 different routes, sent 6 of them, and collapsed. Then we had to go run around the windmill a couple times, because it was cool.

I have no idea how she did. She didn't care. After climbing, we hung for a while, but bedtime came and went and results were still 1/2 hour away so we went and crashed with my mum. She is fostering a puppy, and a third cat, and seems happy with new paint on every single interior wall.

Results should be up online today, somewhere. I'm curious, but not terribly invested, if you know what I mean?
