yar!
Saturday me and three PhD's moved Red Kate into the Mouse Palace. We even did our best to deflect her dad, keep her blood sugar from crashing, and cheer her on. The house is SO bizarre, and quite horrifying, along an axis of vermin and also along another axis of structural integrity. The issues around wiring are just right off the charts.
Sunday was Pre-Thanksgiving: all the friends and room mates and office mates and more friends from the last 35 years assemble to admire children and swap gossip. The first round of kids is 26 (yikes? They were born in 1988, the lot of them). And pie. We eat a LOT of pie.
After, my virtual brother went to see Kate - he's a structural engineer - and talked about what to worry about, what to ignore, and where to direct the owner's efforts when he shows up next. So she continues in the Mouse Palace, I hope settling and not waiting for it to fall on her head at any moment. Or at least less so.
Al's off in Ann Arbor again, on the second leg of his curtain calls. Alice and I are so bad at self care and nutrision when it is just us. Although yesterday we managed a restaurant, with salads, so maybe that can be managed.
The new director for the musical is rebuilding her house from the shell in. I helped shim the strapping in place so the ceiling would be nominally level. My arms are sore. But I also had fun and learned things. So.
