lilac tuesday
the lilacs are blooming two weeks too early for Lilac Sunday at the Boston Arboretum - global climate change FTW
Great lesson on Kaboose with Suzanne - working on leg yield for trot-canter transitions, and then leg yield at the canter. We did it.
I brought a big (2 ft diameter) jolly ball up to see what the mares would do with it. Ruby trotted towards it, Penny regarded it from a safe distance, and Kaboose wouldn't stop staring at it until she was tacked up and in the ring with it. Then she stomped up and touched it, but had a minor freak-out when i picked it up to move it out of the ring.
In one of the Fraggle Rocks Sprocket's ball comes into the Fraggle hole, and Wembly is appalled by it, he calls it a hideous round thing. You could see Kaboose thinking "hideous round thing" in a thought bubble over her head.
I hadn't ridden since Wed last week. When Kaboose was at XF it was like wasting money if I didn't go up and sit on her, and I was working her pretty steadily 6 days a week. Since she's been home, and not eating money, it has been easier to skip a weekend day, but I've been riding the other two as well, so 5 days a week, 2 horses a day.
And then school vacation happened. humbug. And vacation is done, but I had a migraine yesterday, and tomorrow Alice is flying a plane (yes, really. copilot, but hands on controls) and Thursday I get to take my portfolio to a gallery that might display (and even sell!) my work, which is a good thing and worth missing riding for, but still leaves the horse standing around for another day. so.
