Took the red mare out for a looong stomp around the woods and fields. We have to cross a road where everyone goes too fast, and we get to stomp down the center of a couple other roads because no one ever goes there, and we walked along the edge of the Mighty Connecticut River for a ways, and crossed an Extremely Scary Bridge, and then were bold and snorty all the way home. Because we were on our own I felt fine about her stopping and staring at things to make sure they were harmless, and with a pocketful of treats I could reward her for marching up to things and sticking her nose on them. Grr. So.
That exercise blew some of the carbon out of my head, which felt good.
I asked someone about what they loved best about the color pink, because it generally doesn't speak to me. I got a really really nice note back (Thank you L!) and I've been thinking about it for two weeks. She talked about pink being classically (or stereotypically) feminine, and about how a lot of the soft hidden parts of bodies are pink (which honestly made me fan myself a little) and colors that work with pink that feel rich like purples and golds. I got hung up on skies for a while, but today I was thinking about brains, and how they are secret, they keep our secrets, they hold their own secrets... why secrets and pink are now conflated is clearly entirely L's fault. So I made some brain cells. Not neurons, but something else, which I can't find the reference picture to identify. (grr. I thought it was in Science news, but I can't locate it.)
