I've been slowly collecting the little misuses of language that only matter to a truly finicky individual, things like:

take a new tact (tack - angle of sails)
give someone free reign (free rein, long rein, horse metaphor not a king metaphor!)

They drove me crazy for a while - I wanted to shout at the (mis)users and set them straight. I am working on ~~relaxing my standards~~ cutting the writers a good deal more slack.

And now it turns out that people have been collecting them! I am deeply amused. Labelled eggcorns by those that count, they are consolidated in a website for future reference.

I just thought you should be apprised of this.
