Lesson on Image this morning, in the indoor.

We do better in the field, and when Janice is not watching. I think I get selfconscious about smacking her horse, and my position, and then freeze up. Of course the best moments today were after she snapped a lunge whip at him and he'd had a little hissy fit and was up on his tiptoes being BIG and forward and things improved hugely.

No personal horse for me this winter. Talked to Al about $$, things are too tight. I can swing lessons with Janice, and she is interested in seeing Kaboose go and maybe working with the two of us to improve, but I can't board Kaboose with her unless Bob and Leonor are part of the board-paying deal. I am glad I had the care of Bully, and I (still, always?) miss him, but I am thinking other people's horses are healthier for me, mentally. Plus I can do it, do it now, I don't have financial panic attacks and I am not really hugely missing the responsibility.

Hah. Part of what I do miss about Bully is how EASY he was to ride. He did have a host of subtle evasions, but once I found and plugged them (one by one) he was forward while being relatively easy to stop, stiff because he was old, but still capable of a lot of lateral work (and it was good for him).
